ROBIN DUTT

JOURNALIST – STYLIST – ART CRITIC – CURATOR

Robin Dutt has been involved in the worlds of art, literature, design and publication for many years. His books include a monograph on the internationally celebrated 'bad boy' duo, Gilbert & George and his critiques have been commissioned by galleries and institutions such as Waterhouse & Dodd, Coutts Contemporary for its Art Prize, the Academia Italiana and the West Soho Gallery, London which he established as a 'pop-up phenomenon' in the early 1990s to showcase established and contemporary works featuring one-person and group shows from robotics and recycled materials to fine painting and pottery., drawings to monotypes, costume to photographs. He was also part of the team which set up the design studio/gallery, Mission in London's Notting Hill, showing contemporary and mid-century product.

The interest to display work neatly partnered other elements of his passion - broadcast, journalism and speech writing. With the latter in mind, he has given after dinner talks at Home House Private Members Club, The Snail Club (L'Escargot Restaurant) and the Royal Bank of Canada. He has lectured at the London College of Fashion, The Royal College, AIU, (American Intercontinental University) London and the University of West Florida and the NYU, New York University, both again, in London. He worked as a presenter for the BBC's 'Clothes Show' (and was Menswear editor and interviewer on the publication version) and fronted the Granada TV show, 'Classic Interiors' also working with Tara Newley - daughter of Joan Collins. His written work has appeared widely and variously in such publications as The Independent, The Times, The Daily Express, The Lady Magazine, Esquire, GQ, Elle, Galleries Magazine and Art Line - and several others. Subjects included featured the works and words of art celebrities (Andy Warhol, Grayson Perry, Arman, Conroy Maddox Desmond Morris, Duggie Fields, Andrew Logan, David Sylvian, Martin Fry (ABC) and Siouxie Sioux - of The Banshees) and designers such as Christian Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld, Stephen Webster, Nicola Trussardi, Nino Cerruti, Romeo Gigli, Adolfo Dominguez, Paco Rabanne and Pierre Cardin.

Distillation of the art of creativity in terms of self-expression of style and a love of socio-political history and the psychology of sartorial presentation has resulted in the publication of 'DANDEMONIUM - The Dandy Defined' a book dedicated to the very British sense of male style. Enthusiastic critical comment has been written regarding the book by The Times Luxury Supplement, Savile Row Style Magazine, Bond Street Journal, The Lady Magazine and many others.

He has compiled a collection of volumes of his short stories and poems, each titled '20/20', available soon - a new collection to be produced every three months.
